Walter Myers peacefully passed on April 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. 

Walt was born in Medina, Ohio on November 23, 1945, to Dorothy B. Myers (Smith) and Charles I. Myers, Sr. Though moving about in youth, Walt later made his forever home in Foster, WV., there he spent his life devoted to and caring for his family. Skilled as a master mechanic and fabricator, he stood alone in his craft. He began his professional career at Ford Garage and his legacy of hard work continued throughout his life. Walt was multi-talented, not simply with an engine, but he could fix any piece of machinery or construct a tool that could. He built vehicles from the wheels up, homes from foundation up, and although he never had children of his own, he helped raise nieces, nephews, and a great-nephew from the cradle up. He kept his family’s vehicles running, dedicated his time to show them the simple enjoyments of life and encouraged them to make good life decisions. 

Walt was caring, quick witted, and dependable; always going a step further to make things work out better for his family, and he extended this kindness to friends and others in need as well. Walt enjoyed fishing, hunting, music and working on cars; passions that reflected his love for the outdoors and hands on nature. Whatever he envisioned he could bring to reality. Above all, he valued family. A loving and devoted son, he took exceptional care of his mother, always ensuring her happiness and needs were met, he carried this sense of generosity throughout his life with his family. 

Walt will be deeply missed by anyone who knew and loved him. He set a standard in our family, and his absence will be profound. We honor him by holding on to the positive impact, knowledge and memories he left each of us. 

Preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Bernice Myers-Mittendorf; father, Charles Isaac Myers; and brother, Robert L. Myers (Regina). 

He is survived by his siblings, Audrey Jane Brooks (John), Charles Isaac "Sonny" Myers (Angie), and William Lee "Shafty" Myers. He also leaves behind loving nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with Gary Daniels officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
