Virgil "Corky" Spencer Jr.

Virgil “Corky” Spencer Jr. 74 of Hewett, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Corky was born March 6, 1952, son of the late Virgil and Pauline White Spencer. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Kyle and Danny Spencer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorella Spencer; children, Carrie and Paul Spencer; special grandson, Trentin (Faith) Spencer and two special great grandchildren Raelynn and Kylie Spencer; sister, Judy Fowler and family; sisters-in-law, Betty and family, Brenda Stephens (Gary) and family, Connie Ramey and family, and Mary Stevenson and family; and nephew, Brian (Terry) Dolin and family.

Corky loved spending time with his family, golfing, old cars and trucks. He started the girls Redhawks basketball team at Madison Middle School. Corky also started the Scott High School softball team with Debby Ashby. He was a retired coal miner from Westmoreland and High Tech construction. Corky was also a Christian and member of Spencer Chapel at Hewett, WV.

The family would like to thank the church and community of friends for all the help that was given and for their thoughts and prayers.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Spencer Chapel, Hewett, WV with service beginning at 2:00 pm. with Pastor Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will be after the service at the Stevenson-Belcher Cemetery on Meadowfork Road, Hewett WV. Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV is assisting the family.
