Velma Lee Dolin Ball, born March 11, 1937 of Hewett, WV went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
Preceding her in death are her parents Claude and Vona Dolin; brothers Charles, Ciegel, Cecil, and Curtis Dolin; and nephew PFC Danny Dolin.
Velma was a graduate of Scott High School Class of 1955, a faithful Christian since 1963, a devoted Servant of the Lord, and a cherished piano player for her church for many years. She was also a memorable Sunday School Teacher. She shared her love for Jesus with warmth and steadfast commitment to scripture. Her lessons were more than stories; they were foundations for a lifetime of faith and was known for bringing the Bible to life for her students.
Velma loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Harold Ray Ball; daughters Terri (Emerson-Bo) Kirk and Susan (Jamie) Stollings of Hewett; grandchildren Kristin (Andrew) Miller, Holly (Warren) Nichols, and Sydney (Michael) Estep; great-grandchildren Brooklynn (Eli) White, Ashtyn Miller, Hannah Nichols and Reed Estep; great-great-grandson due in May; sister-in-law, Shirley Runyon, who was like a sister; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and close friends.
A special thanks to nurse Lynnsie Breedlove, Amelia, and Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville.
A graveside service will be open to the public at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Danville, WV with Rev. Roger McCauley and Rev. Don Austin officiating. Handley Funeral Home in Danville is assisting the family.
