Shirley Mae Crone

Shirley May Crone, 83, of Ottawa, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2026. She was born on January 5, 1943.

Shirley was a Christian first and foremost, and her love for God was at the center of her life. She loved singing at church and sharing her testimony about her faith and love for the Lord. Throughout her life, she enjoyed attending revivals and singing in churches throughout the area. Her faith was not only something she spoke about, but something she lived each day.

Shirley loved spending time with her family and had a special way of making everyone feel loved and welcome. She never met a stranger, and she was “Mamaw” to any child who was blessed to be in her presence. Her kindness, faith, and love for others will be remembered by all who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ester White; her husband, Earl Crone Sr.; her daughter, Anita Marcum; and her brothers, Dallas White and Dillas White.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Earl (Becky) Crone of Lowgap, West Virginia; son-in-law, Leon Marcum of Ottawa, West Virginia; grandchildren, Christina (Carl) Harmon of Tennessee, Candy Melissa Jones of Ottawa, West Virginia, Tryston (Jordan) Crone of Alum Creek, West Virginia, and Gracie Crone (Alex) of Morgantown, West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Katie (David) Horn of Ottawa, West Virginia, Leon (Savannah) Fisher of Julian, West Virginia, Natalie Jones of Ottawa, West Virginia, and Navy Cole Crone of Alum Creek, West Virginia; and great-great-grandchild, Kaydence Fisher of Julian, West Virginia. She is also survived by her sisters, Patty Smith of Man, West Virginia, Sharon Cantabury of Logan, West Virginia, and Brenda Smith of Uneeda, West Virginia.

Shirley leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, family, and kindness. Her beautiful voice, her testimony, her welcoming heart, and the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.

She has finished her earthly journey and is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, whom she loved so dearly.

Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV is assisting the family. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26th, 2026 in Memory Gardens at Low Gap Road, Danville, West Virginia.
