Shirley Anne Bowling

Shirley Anne Kinder Bowling passed away March 22, 2024 at Hubbard Hospice House after a short illness. 

She was preceded in death by parents, Ira and Mary Gracie Adkins Kinder; her beloved husband, Berthal “Dutch” Bowling; grandson, Jeremy Wagoner; brothers, Herb, Tom and Ira Jr.; and sisters, Sybil, Emma, Inis and Julia.

Shirley is survived by her son, Terry (Kathy) Bowling of Napier, WV; daughters, Cheryl (Berthel) Pauley of Nellis, WV, Rhonda Pauley and Sandra Stepp both of Nellis, WV; sister, Patricia Lushbaugh of Shady Springs, WV; sister-in-law, Wanda Fiorillo, Hamden, CT; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Shirley graduated from Sherman High School, class of 1953. She was a clerk and postmaster at Nellis, WV for 27 years.   Shirley was first and foremost a devout Christian and member of Easley Church of Christ. She loved her community, and no one left her home hungry or in need.  She has been mommaw Bo to many community children and adults for over 40 years.  She will be greatly missed by family, church and community.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Johnny Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison, WV.

Friends may call 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the funeral home.
