Shirley Ann Aleshire

Shirley Ann Aleshire, 87, of Comfort, died on September 1, 2023 at home. She was born on March 25, 1936 in Prenter, WV. She is a 1953 graduate of Sherman High School. Shirley worked at Mae’s Drive-In on Short Creek and the Motel Drive-In in Fosterville. She learned to cook the best hot dog chili. While working at the Motel Drive-In, she met and fell in love with Clarence Aleshire. They wed in May 1956.

Shirley loved to quilt and to shop for bargains. She was very active in her children’s school activities.

During their later years, Clarence and Shirley traveled throughout the United States including hiking with the Kanawha Trail Club and the VIPP program of WV State Parks.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clarence Aleshire Jr; parents, Bern and Sadie Yeager; daughter, Sandra Bailey and brothers, Eddie Yeager and Dickie Yeager. Surviving are her son David Aleshire and sister, Sue Zornes.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas with Rev. Tony Vance officiating.
