Sharon Lynne Fellure Davis, 84, of West Hamlin, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was born in Huntington, WV, on April 3, 1940, a daughter of the late Elliott James and Glenna (Lewis) Fellure. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Jennings W. “Abb” Davis, a brother, Elliott James Fellure, Jr., a sister, Rosamond Fellure Vance, and two nephews: James Allen Fellure and Bruce Eldon Fellure.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Amy (Davis) Parsons and son-in-law, Steven Parsons, of Louisa, KY, two grandsons: Nathan Parsons-Schwarz (Dustin) of Fairfax Station, VA, Samuel Parsons (Danielle) of McKinney, TX, a great-granddaughter, Carolyn Grace Parsons-Schwarz of Fairfax Station, VA, a brother, Maurice Fellure (Barbara), of Newark, DE, and several nieces and nephews.
Sharon was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church in Barboursville, WV, the Queen Esther’s Circle ladies’ group at West Hamlin United Methodist Church, and the Eastern Star, Hamlin Chapter No. 106. She loved playing the piano, which she learned as a child. As a teenager and young adult, she played some for quartets and in churches in which she attended or in which she belonged as a member. Circa 1977, her small hometown church, West Hamlin United Methodist, needed a permanent piano player. She returned to that little church she loved so much and was their piano player for twenty-five years.
Sharon retired in 1996 from Twentieth Street Bank (originally First National Bank of West Hamlin) after thirty years of service. She spent nearly half her life as a grandmother, a role that brought her endless joy. She was notably strong-willed and overcame a breast cancer diagnosis in 1992. She enjoyed planting flowers every spring and particularly loved Knock Out Roses. She also would often call family and friends on their birthdays to play “Happy Birthday” for them on the piano.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 13, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin and will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Sizemore. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM, and the funeral will be at 4. Burial will be at Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons, International, PO Box 355, Louisa, KY 41230.
