Obituary

A loving Wife, Mom, Mammaw, Mimi, Sister, Sandra Kay Buckner, 73 of Foster, WV passed away surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Sandra Kay Buckner was born on October 18, 1952, to the late Mazie (Bradley) Daniels and Edgar “Tac” Bryant. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Donnie Daniels, whom she lovingly considered her father. Kay is now reunited with her beloved husband of 58 years, Johnny Lee Buckner, as well as her grandparents, Seybert and Annie (Alley/Gayheart) Bradley; her brother, David Daniels; her sisters, Myrna Roberto and Deanna Stephens; her grandson, Joshua Buckner, whom she’s looked so forward to seeing; and her great-grandsons, Landon Orahood and Levi Sizemore.

Those left to cherish her memory include her little dog, Prissy, who will miss her so much; sons, JJ (Melanie) Buckner of Bolivia, NC, and Jamie (Linda) Buckner of Foster, WV; daughter, Angie (Roy) Sizemore of Foster, WV; grandsons, Austin Sizemore of Foster, WV, Christian Ball of Danville, WV, Noah (Celeste) Ball of Danville, WV, Brandon (Shelby) Orahood of South Vienna, OH, Michael (Erika) Orahood of West Jefferson, OH, and Brad (Kourtney) Orahood of Winnabow, NC, Justin Toler of Danville, WV; granddaughters, Kayton (Dylan) Hager of Harts, WV, Cheyeanna (Colton) Kiser of Nellis, WV, Kaylee (Kevin) Anglin of Foster, WV, and Kacie (Hunter) Buckner of Foster, WV, Breianna (Philip) Messer of Chapmanville, WV. great-granddaughters, Zoey and Avery Sizemore, and Marion and Dakota Orahood, and Elizabeth Messer. great-grandsons, Luke Likens, Ashton Anglin, Clayton Ball, and Ezekiel Messer; brothers, Ronnie (Jenny) Bradley of Denver, NC, and Robert (Gayle) Bradley of Dahlgren, IL; sister, Donna (Roger) Gillenwater of Foster, WV; brother-in-law, Ricky Stephens of Foster, WV; and many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.

Kay lived with a heart made for loving and hands made for serving. As a nurse, she poured that love into caring for others, just as she cared for her family throughout her life. She found quiet joy in creating, whether sewing quilts or crocheting for those she held dear, but her true passion was her family and serving the Lord. Nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than sharing the Lord’s word, bringing her family together, growing old with her husband Johnny, and watching her children and grandchildren grow into the people they are today.

She will be so missed by all who loved her, but she is at rest in her new home, in the happiest place where she has always wanted to be—heaven.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with services officiated by Junior Hale. Burial to follow in Gunnoe Daniels Cemetery, Rock Lick, WV.
