Ruby “Iris” Burns, 76, of Spars Creek, WV departed this life in the early hours of January 26, 2026. Born December 3, 1949 in Madison, WV, Iris lived a devoted life to her family, friends, and pets. She was a member of Rock Creek Church of Christ.
Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Wayne Burns; her mother, Irene Boggs; her father, Gordon Leon Dolin; stepfather, Callis Boggs; her son “Dennie” Wayne Burns; and her brother, Roger Dean Boggs.
Iris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her daughters, Terrica (Joey) Stover of Virginia and Rebecca (Lewis) Ford of Foster, WV; grandchildren, Scooter (Breana) Stover of Virginia, Regenald (Carolina) Burns of Charleston, WV, Michael (Mariam) Burns of Virginia; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Burns, Eleanor and Ember Ruth Stover, and Ka’eo Kaaiakamanu-Burns; siblings, George Ray (the late Thelma) Dolin of Lick Creek, WV, Gordon Leon (Bonnie) Dolin, Callis Eugene (SueAnn) of Mud River WV, the late Roger (Tresa) Boggs, Mona (Charlie) Cullison, James (Nancy) Boggs, Debbie Wyatt, and Sammy (Gina) Boggs, all residing in Lick Creek, WV. Iris also left behind a host of nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.
Services for Iris will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Family Gardens on Low Gap Road in Danville, WV. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Joey Stover and Lewis Ford; grandsons, Scooter Stover, Regenald Burns and Michael Burns; and nephew, Richard Boggs.
