Roy Norman Lovejoy

Roy Norman Lovejoy, 82 of Ranger, WV died at Paramount Memory Care Unit in Ona, WV on July 14, 2023. 

He was born on May 8, 1941, in Lorado, WV and lived his childhood days on a farm on Left Hand Fork of Mud River at Palermo, WV.  He was the son of the late Freddie & Vonnie "Hoosier" Lovejoy. Also, preceding him in death: one brother, Ray Lovejoy and one sister, Rosilee Ashworth. 

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon "Smith" Lovejoy, and one sister Carol Lovejoy of Milton, WV and a very special sister-in-law, Donna "Smith" Martin who was always there to assist in times of need.  Roy loved his nieces and nephews and over the years had a great time teasing and playing with them.   

Roy was a long-time member of the Church of Christ, at Ranger, WV and served in many capacities for the church. Roy served four years with the United States Air Force and was stationed in Guam, also worked on missile sites inTopeka, Kansas with a very high security clearance.   He retired with 33 years of service with Verizon Telephone Company.  After retirement, he enjoyed 4-wheeling, camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and traveling. His very special hobby was restoring very unique antique cars and displaying them in car shows.  Roy was an individual who was kind in nature and could always be counted on to do or assist on projects for neighbors, friends and relatives.  He was gifted by many working talents.   He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Per Roy's wishes, he will be cremated with no funeral services.  His remains will be interred in Smith Cemetery in Ranger, WV.   McGhee-Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin is assisting the family.
