Robert H. Adkins, 83, of Springfield, OH, formerly of West Hamlin, WV, went to his forever home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 18, 2024.
He was born April 20, 1940, in Midkiff WV, to the late Enoch A. Adkins and Beulah (Neal) Adkins. Robert was preceded in death by his brother Carl L. Adkins; his nephew Art Willis Jr.; his niece Linda Kay Vance; and his brothers-in-law Lewis G. Burns and Jimmie R. Skeens.
Robert was a loving husband to his wife Carolyn Sue (Skeens) of 58 years, whom he leaves behind. They lived a happy life together and loved one another until the end of time. He leaves behind one daughter that he cherished, Tina Lynn (Thomas) Cox; a grandson that he loved unconditionally, Nathan Robert Cox; and three step grandchildren, Paige (Bryan) Heming, Bryce, and Taylor Cox. He leaves behind two sisters, Loretta Jean (Arthur) Willis, and Mary Rose Burns; sisters-in-law, Judith A. Adkins, Vanessa (Kenneth) Price, Deborah (Larry) Pritchard, and Connie Skeens; brothers-in-law, Michael (Trish) Skeens and Douglas Skeens. Also, there are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, along with cousins that he leaves behind.
Robert drilled gas and water wells his entire life and started his retirement in 2004. Robert was a Godly man who was committed to his Christian faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and spending time with family.
He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 2 at Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm on Saturday at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin prior to the service.
