Oretha Rose Estep

October 14, 1944 — August 27, 2025

Danville, WV

Oretha Rose Estep, 80, of Danville, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, and was welcomed into her Heavenly home. She was born on October 14, 1944, in Hampton, Virginia, the daughter of Arch D. Collins and Cora Wytaske.

A woman of deep faith, Rose was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and was ready to meet her Heavenly Father. Known affectionately as “Rose,” she had a vibrant personality that brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she always kept people on their toes with her witty remarks.

One of Rose’s greatest joys was dining out, especially at her favorite spots—she adored Chinese food and never missed the chance to celebrate her birthday at Red Lobster, an annual tradition cherished by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch D. Collins and Cora Wytaske, and her brother Clarence.

Rose is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa (Joe) Holstein of Danville; her son, Mark (Tina) Estep of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Brooke (Donovan) Pearson, Katie (Cole) Brown, Matthew Holstein, Amber Estep, Druett Estep, and Shelby Williamson; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Lydia, Luke, Creed, Larysn, and Claire, who will forever cherish her warm Mamaw hugs.

Rose also leaves behind a host of dear family and friends who will deeply miss her presence, especially her long-time friends at Black Diamond Arbor, where she made many lifelong connections. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Choice Care, Sharon Chapman, Pauline Bell, and the wonderful team at Fresenius Kidney Care, particularly Kyla Jackson, for her unwavering patience and compassion during Rose’s dialysis treatments. A special thank you to the staff at Hubbard Hospice House for ensuring that Rose was comfortable in her final days.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rose will be laid to rest at Danville Memorial Park.

In remembrance of her faith, we take comfort in the words of John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
