Okel Ray Lucas

Okel Ray Lucas, 84, of Culloden passed away on June 3, 2026. He was born on February 14, 1942, to the late Spencer and Virginia Lucas. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Lucas; and brothers Donnie and Ronnie Lucas.

Okel Ray is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Scottie) Roberts, of Culloden, WV, Angie Kirkland, of Culloden, WV, and Pam (John Boy) Prochnow of Milton, WV; grandchildren, Heather Sampson, of Hamlin, WV, Jennifer Black, of Proctorville, OH, Jessica Templeton of Catlettsburg, KY, Melonie Prochnow, of Milton, WV, Randy Cox, of Hamlin, WV, Malissa Stickler, of Hurricane, WV, and Alicia Cain, of Boaz, Alabama; alongside 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Naomi Helphenstine; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Okel Ray was a member of Peaceful Valley Free Will Baptist Church for many years and an Auto-Technician under the U.S. Navy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV. Mark Terry and Darrell Quintrell will be officiating the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 111 of Hamlin. Burial will proceed at Lucas Cemetery, Culloden, WV. 

Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
