Mondell Harris a lifelong resident of Barrett WV died peacefully at his home on May 27, 2025, after a courageous battle of Parkinson disease. He was born September 19, 1943, to Mont and Ruby Harris in Barrett WV and graduated from Van Jr Sr High School in 1960 at 17 years old. He then went in the U.S. Army and got to travel the world. After the Army he came back to West Virginia and started a career in the Coal Industry where he had 30 years of service and retired from Eastern Associated Coal at the age of 52. He loved spending time in the mountains, building buggies, and spent many wonderful years enjoying his weekends with his brothers in the hills. He knew every trail, every holler and could take you anywhere.
Mondell was preceded in death by his parents Mont and Ruby Harris. His wife of 44 years Linda; brothers Odell, Udell and Cardell; sisters Christine, Irene and Sonja.
He is survived by his daughter Angel (Tim) Hicks of Greenwood WV; Son Mondell Harris II of Barrett WV; granddaughters, Holly Jo Hicks of James Creek WV and Payton Hicks of Greenwood WV; grandson Jalen Harris of Barrett WV; great granddaughter Tilly Dayle Valle of James Creek WV. He also leaves behind 2 brothers Credell Harris of Barrett WV and Bredell Harris of Pennsylvania.
His wishes were that there would be no services, and he wanted to be cremated, and his remains be taken to be put with his parents and spread in the mountains where he loved.
