Michael Wesley Little, May 23, 1972 - June 8, 2024, he was 52 years old. With great sadness we announce the passing of Michael "Big Mike" Little, a beloved figure in the Boone and Logan County communities. Mike passed away on June 8, 2024, leaving a legacy of joy, generosity, and community spirit.
Mike was born and raised in Newark New Jersey and resides in Madison, WV. Best known as ""Big Mike"" to his customers and friends, Mike owned and operated two popular restaurants, "Little's Cafe," one in Madison, WV, and another in Logan, WV. His establishments were more than just places to eat; they were community hubs where everyone felt welcome.
Mike was an active member of Madison Baptist Church, where his faith and commitment to helping others shined brightly. His larger-than-life personality was complemented by a big smile that greeted everyone he met. Known for his infectious laughter and giving nature, Mike ensured no customer ever left his cafes hungry. He was also a compassionate employer, offering second chances to employees in need and helping them find the success they deserved. The Boone and Logan County communities are left with a massive void with the passing of Big Mike, but he has left us with countless memories to cherish for a lifetime. All who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember his smile, laughter, and generosity.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary L Gainer-Little and Lester Little; cherished his first cousin Debbie as a sister from New Jersey.
Mike leaves behind a woman who changed his life for the better, preferred to him as his lady, Tonya Hatfield. He also leaves behind his four daughters, Nyiasha, Quashonda, Kenasia, and Kaniyah Little; as well as a son, Sha’quan Little all from New Jersey; two granddaughters, A'lanni Fielder and Liyah Little, from New Jersey; two grandsons, Aston Little and Jay'ceon both from New Jersey; his mother, Linda Little; one sister, Kathy; and younger brother, Lorell of New Jersey. He also leaves behind his aunt Myrtle Gainer, who was so dear to him; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends; his best friend - business partner Charolotte Ward; and extended family who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations to be made to Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV to help cover expenses Rest in Peace, Big Mike. Your legacy of kindness and community spirit will live on forever.
Service will be 11 AM Friday June 21, 2024, at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV.
Visitation will be Thursday June 20, 2024, 6 pm – 8pm at the funeral home.
