Michael Eugene Stover

Michael “Mike” Stover, 74, went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2025. He was born on July 26, 1951, to the late William “Bill” Stover and Fronnie “Granny” Stover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Stover and Toby Baldwin, and three brothers, Randall Lee, Terry, and Frankie “Hooper” Stover.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Stover; his beloved brother, Rocky (Julie) Stover of Weston; and three daughters, Michele (Todd) Gillispie of Julian, Merissa (Wayne) Parsons of Alum Creek, and Mary (Jason) Nicholas of Alum Creek. He was a proud grandfather to Ronnie Mayhorn II of Troy, Michigan; Taija (Zackeriah Zornes) Mayhorn of Liberty; Alexus Stover of Charleston; Aaron Parsons of Charleston; Shyann Nicholas of Charleston; Daniel Nicholas of Alum Creek; Ethan Nicholas of Alum Creek; Jaden Nicholas of Wilmington, NC; and Ashton Parsons of Charleston. His pride and joy were his 13 great-grandchildren. Mike will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family, and countless friends.

Mike was a proud Veteran in the US Army, and a retired miner from Sharples Coal. He was a faithful member and Deacon at Monclo Freewill Baptist Church. Above all, Mike’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He lived each day with a servant’s heart, guided by love, humility, and a steadfast belief in God’s promises. His gentle spirit and strength reflected a man who walked closely with the Lord and found joy in serving others. Mike’s greatest blessing was his family, whom he cherished deeply and prayed for daily. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to shine through all who knew him, until the day we are reunited with him in Heaven.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Joe Lane, Denie Evans and Jerry Sutphin officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
