Maurice Gene Miles, 77, of Jeffrey went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison.
He was born May 1, 1935 and was a son of the late Alvin and Dora Miles. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet, of 55 years.
Maurice was a member of Spencer United Methodist Church. He retired from Omar Mining. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Survivors include two daughters, Libby (Joey) Akers of North Carolina and Sherri (John) Bennett of Alabama; one son, Scott (Terri) Miles of Colorado; one sister, Joan Markham of Texas; one brother, Harold Dean of Jeffrey; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Brannen of Alabama, Tiffany Bennett of Alabama, Kelsey Jo Akers of North Carolina, Tanner Miles of Colorado, Nicholle (Tim) McNabb of North Carolina, Jodie Akers of North Carolina and Shane Gragg of Mississippi; and one great-grandson, Easton Miles Brannen of Alabama. He also leaves behind many loved ones and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Roger McCauley and Harold Ray Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
