Mary Jane Canterbury Wills, 73, of Spruce Laurel went home to the Lord on February 10, 2014 after a long illness.

Heaven gained a beloved mother, companion, sister and friend who found the good in everyone. She was a homemaker and a member of Spruce Laurel Freewill Baptist Church.

Born August 4, 1940 in Gordon, WV she was a daughter of the late Icie and Gordon Canterbury. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Wills; daughter, Teresa Turley; brother, Everette Canterbury; and step-son Ernie Akers.

She is survived by her companion of 30 years, William Akers; brother, James (Jimmy) Canterbury of Hebron, Ohio; daughters, Johni Lynn Sutphin and husband Danny of Spruce Laurel, Thelma Carr and husband Chuck of Clarksburg, WV and Loura and husband Adrian Baisden of Fairmont; step-children, Tim Akers ,Pam Bender and Mike Akers all of Spruce Laurel; grandchildren, Misty, April, Brian (Jess), Brent (Mallory), Travis, Troy, Freddie, Mary Lynn, Kelly, Candi, Laci, Amanda, Timbo (Tawnyn) Faith, Jon Boy, Todd and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Adam, Gabby,Hunter, Raven, Shaylee, Skyler, Jaxon, Katilyn, Sydney, Hunter, Ryley, Chase and Little B.

The family would like to send a special thanks to her nurse Mary Jett and all other MICU nurses for their kindness and compassion.

Service will be 2 pm Friday, February 14, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Ralph Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in Bias Pauley Cemetery, Laurel.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
