Marion Lou Jones Thornton

Marion Lou Jones Thornton, 73, passed away at Marietta Memorial Hospital on September 23, 2023. Marion was the daughter of Julia and John A. Jones and the youngest of four children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Helen Golod, John Jones, and Carolyn Young.

Marion was a muscle car enthusiast and lifelong fan of rock n roll music—the louder the better! She made her career as a medical technologist at CAMC. She was exceptionally creative and used her skills as a Master Gardener and expert in crochet and knitting to make life that much more beautiful for those around her. Above all else, she was the fiercest protector of those she loved. A true mama bear! She was, and is, most beloved.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Laura Martinez, son-in-law, Tony Martinez, granddaughter, Regan Martinez, grandson, Bradley Martinez, and precious cat, Kitty.

Services for Marion will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV.  Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison, WV.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.
