Lowell Ray Fitzwater

Lowell Ray Fitzwater, 86, of Madison, WV was born on July 27, 1937 and passed away on October 31, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley R. and Garnet Lee Fitzwater; first wife, Violet McCutcheon Fitzwater; daughter, Hilda Renee, and grandchild, Austin.

He was a veteran of United States Army, he retired from Peabody Coal Mines where he was an electrician and a mechanic. He was a member of the UMWA. He was also a Pastor of Washington Heights Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda Marie (Kitchen Dooley) Fitzwater; son, Daniel Ray Fitzwater of Bristow, Va, James Paul Fitzwater of Ravenswood, WV, and stepson David Lee Dooley II of Mt. Sterling, KY; daughters, Deborah Lynn Wells of Ripley, WV, stepdaughter, Susan Michelle Haynes of Cynthiana, KY; his brother Robert Lee Fitzwater, of Scott Depot, WV; grandchildren, Christinia, Daniel, Joseph, Danae, Autumn, Luke, Julia, Garrett, Madison, Morgan and Kara; and nine great grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 3, 2023 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with James Fitzwater officiating. Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod, WV with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, WV.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Friday.
