Lois Janet (Davis) Pauley, age 93, went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2026. She was born on October 24, 1932, in Alkol, West Virginia, to Helen (McClure) Davis and Earl Davis. She married Hank Pauley in 1952, and after welcoming both their daughters, they moved to Orlando, Florida, for a short time. During the summer of 1964, Lois had the opportunity to work alongside two of her sisters in Sylvan Beach, New York, on Lake Oneida. In 1965, Lois moved to Chicago, where she lived for nine years. She worked for a coffee company as the departmental bookkeeper. In 1974, they relocated to Fort Pierce, Florida.

Upon retirement in 1996, Lois and Hank built their dream home in Bryson City, North Carolina. It was there that she discovered her love for The Inspirations, and you would often catch her proudly singing their songs. She had a beautiful Alto voice. In 2001, Hank and Lois returned to Morrisvale, West Virginia, to be near their eldest daughter, Teresa, during her battle with cancer. They are surely enjoying their reunion in heaven. In 2019, Lois moved to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, to live with her daughter Sheila and son-in-law Dorino.

Though her primary work was as a bookkeeper, she was most passionate about her volunteer work as a child advocate and at the senior center in Morrisvale. If you knew Lois well, you know she loved bringing joy to others. She was a devout Christian and loving mother. She enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, various crafts, studying the Bible, and singing in the choir. Most of her crafts she donated for a good cause, often crocheting baby blankets, booties, and quilts for others in need. She loved cooking and baking, especially around the holidays, and delivering treats to friends, family, and neighbors. She compiled a collection of her favorite recipes in a cookbook that many of us still treasure.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Pauley; daughter, Teresa Pauley; parents, Helen (McClure) Davis and Earl Davis; sisters, Palma Browning and Sandra Blomstrand; and brother, Gary Davis.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Pauley) Cecconi and husband Dorino Cecconi; granddaughters Candace Cecconi (fiancé Tom Macak), Olivia Cecconi (husband Kyle Pearson), and Tara Cecconi; great-grandchildren Conri Armour and Teagan Armour; sister Wilma Carol Adkins; brothers Earl Junior Davis (wife Doris) and Joel Danny Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A service to honor and celebrate Lois’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, West Virginia, with services officiated by Rev. David Cook. Burial to follow in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, West Virginia.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
