Obituary

Lillian Ruth Miller, 88, of Madison, WV joined her Heavenly Father and passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 15, 2026.

She was born in Man, WV, and was the daughter of the late Walter & Emma Thompson.

Lillian was a beautiful soul and the wonderful matriarch of The Miller Family; as she found joy, purpose, and contentment in her faith and family.

Lillian was the proud wife of Malloy Miller with almost 70 years of marriage. She was the loving mother to sons Michael Miller and Glen Miller and to daughter, Annette Miller. Lillian was a cherished grandmother to grandsons Jeremy Miller, Brian Miller, Nicolas Cooper, and granddaughter, Alexis Cooper. She was also the great-grandmother to granddaughters Evie Miller, Tennsley Miller, and grandson, Jude Miller. Lillian was also incredibly blessed to grow up in Clothier, WV with 6 siblings; brothers, Tracy & wife, SarahSue Thompson, Troy and wife, Opal Jean Thompson, Raymond and wife, Mildred "Millie" Thompson, Jerry and wife, Elaine Thompson, Roger Lee Thompson, and sister, Shirley Inman.

Lillian, like the source of her name, was a such true flower of life, love, & humor. Never missing an opportunity to spend time with her immediate family & friends, visitors were welcome to stop in anytime, as well as her church family at West Madison Baptist Church, or you'd catch her on the back porch, enjoying some peace and listening to the sounds of the river below. Lillian was a nurturer, a builder, of tough love, thick skin, brutal truth, strong work ethics, the importance of family, detailed professionalism, and her passion for WVU football. Imparting the many lessons of life, she was also an incredibly hard worker, whether at the family's dealership business, as a head cook at the local deli, or leading the household, she always took pride in her work, her appearance, and in those she served. With her warm smile and tight hug she always welcomed good humor almost as much as sharing a family meal around the holidays. If you knew Lillian, you loved her, and if you loved her, you certainly laughed with her & probably at her and Malloy some too. As their marriage was both beautiful and consistently hilarious, but they truly made a wonderful team. Friends and family were incredibly blessed to have such a light, such a blossom in their lives. We all have full hearts and minds, filled with joyful memories to hold onto. As we appreciate the woman she was and the impact she had in all our lives.

Our matriarch will be sorely missed, but we find comfort in holding onto the time we shared together and knowing you are now at your forever home. May God hold you and keep you, as you held and kept many of us.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in flight by her gentlemanly & dapper husband, Malloy Miller; her loving sons, Michael & Glen Miller; and brothers, Tracy, Troy, Roger Lee, & Raymond Thompson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with Ray Barker officiating. Burial to follow in Memory Gardens in Danville, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Everyone who knew her is welcome to stop by and share in our celebration of her life. Malloy and Lillian Miller were good people of faith that truly lived full & fruitful lives. They were both valuable members of the Madison community so our family hopes to see you there.

We are also grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and Our Father in Heaven for allowing them to be together again.
