Larry Earl Hill, Sr., 79, of Julian, WV, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025.
Born in Madison, WV, Larry was the son of the late Opie C. Hill and Mary Velma Hill. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet E. Hill, and his twin brother, David P. Hill. Larry was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by his parents, brother, and wife.
Larry was a 1963 graduate of Scott High School and went on to attend the West Virginia Institute of Technology. He worked as a dedicated Master Carpenter for over 60 years and retired from the Danville Lumber Company in Danville, WV. He was known for his skilled hands, tireless work ethic, and willingness to help everyone in need.
He was a longtime member of Olive Baptist Church in Julian and a man of deep faith. He was a member of the Odell Masonic Lodge #115, where he upheld the values of brotherhood, service, and integrity. In his early years, Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his greatest passion throughout life was his love for animals, which he cared for with gentle devotion.
Larry is survived by his son, Larry E. Hill, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hill (née Wermert), of Indiana. He was a proud grandfather to Abigail M. Hill, Oliver P. Hill, and Charlotte R. Hill, all of whom brought great joy to his later years.
Larry will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, and a kindhearted soul who lived a life marked by quiet strength and deep compassion.
Visitation will be held at Handley Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will take place immediately afterward at Boone Memorial Park.
