Jerry Odell Jeffrey (Sleepy), 81, of Hewett, WV departed this life Sunday November 19, 2017. He was born March 1, 1936.
Jerry was a member of the Spencer Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Margie Sue Jeffrey (Nichols); his parents Chester and Dixie Jeffrey; and his siblings Clyde, Claud, Francis, Delvin, Lois, Becky, Randall and Curtis.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Mary) Jeffrey, and Jeanetta (Patrick) Ball; his grandchildren, Chris (Ashley) Jeffrey and Amber Ball; his great grandchildren, Waylon, Walker, Harper and Aubrey; and his sisters, Freda Dilly and Sheila Adams.
Jerry was raised at Isom Branch. He owned, and was well known by Sleepy’s Carryout for 18 years. He was a generous caring, jokester and never met a stranger. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He resided at the Chapmanville Towers the last three years where he had many friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Danny Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Ferrell Cemetery, Hewett, WV.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dignity Hospice, Chapmanville, WV.
