Jerry Wayne Gillenwater

Jerry Wayne Gillenwater, 66, of Drawdy, WV went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2025. He was born in Boone County, WV on November 26, 1958. 

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie (Massey) Gillenwater; son Kevin DeWayne Gillenwater and wife, Amber, of Drawdy; son Jerry Dustin Gillenwater and fiancé, Heather, of Comfort, WV; and daughter Rosanna Marie (Gillenwater) Harless and husband Adam of Racine, WV; grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Adalyn, Reagan, Briar, Wrynlie, Elizabeth, Madalyn, Waylon, Asher and Wyatt; brother Terry Gillenwater and wife Marilyn of Fishers, IN; sister Sandy (Gillenwater) Shamblin of Andrew, WV, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Gladys Gillenwater, brother Bobby Gillenwater, and sister Debbie (Gillenwater) Griffin.

Jerry’s grandchildren were his greatest joys! He loved spoiling them and spending time with them, and they loved being with Popaw! Jerry also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, visiting his home away from home in Myrtle Beach, going to yard sales with his wife, renovating and tackling small do-it-yourself projects around the house, and visiting with friends. Jerry retired from many years working in the coal mines after being injured in a coal mining accident. He was always there with a helping hand for neighbors and friends. Jerry was definitely one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him!

Services for Jerry will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas, WV.
