James Henry “Bobby” Spangler, 91, of Sylvester, WV passed away November 17, 2025.

Born September 19, 1934 in Raleigh County to the late Ernest and Evelyn Spangler, he worked for CSX Transportation for 47 years as a brakeman/conductor.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Milam Spangler; his son, Terry Spangler; and several siblings.

Bobby is survived by daughter Sandra Spangler Browning and husband Tony, who was more like a son; two special granddaughters, Karissa Webb (Matt) and Lesly Farley; special great-grandchildren Kyle Farley, Paisley Webb, and Lydi Farley; two brothers, Curtis “Ray” Spangler and Donald Spangler; one sister, Elizabeth “Punky” Casto. He is also survived by granddaughters Tara, Missy, and Kelly, as well as several great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday November 24, 2025 at Whitesville Baptist Church in Whitesville, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
