James Harold Keffer

James Harold Keffer passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 after a short illness.

He was born April 13, 1934 and was a son of the late Thradie and Nancy Keffer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emma Lee; his sons James and Steven Keffer; and a grandson TJ Meadows.

James was born and raised in Drawdy, WV.  He was a 1953 graduate and an avid sports fan of Sherman High School. He was also a graduate of Morris Harvey College receiving a degree in accounting.  He was an Army veteran and a Mason. He had many professions, but his most loved was owning and operating trucks and finally retiring at 82 years old.  He would also help those who needed a helping hand by giving them a start in purchasing a truck.  He was a devoted sports fan, following his great grandchildren's games and was always in the stands cheering them on. James was a devout Christian belonging to Bloomingrose Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis; his daughter, Cathy (Tim) Meadows; grandchildren, Lori Windland, Jessalyn (Cory) Lovejoy, Dillon (Alecia) Meadows, Collin Keffer, and Cameron Keffer.  He also leaves 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16 at Bloomingrose Church of Christ, Bloomingrose, WV.  Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until service time at the church.  

Burial 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 18 at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
