Jacqueline June Harless

Jacqueline "Jackie" June Harless, 84, of Madison died peacefully on April 6, 2013 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV after a brief illness.
Jackie was born May 17, 1928 in Ottawa, W.Va., a daughter of the late Sidney and Mintie Ellis. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Ray Edward Harless. Together they owned and operated City Exxon of Madison for 15 years. She was an employee of Boone County schools as a bookkeeper at Boone Career Center, where she retired after more than 20 years. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Hill, Ruby Copley and Carol Gibson; and her brother, Howard Ellis.
She was a graduate of Scott High School, class of 1946, where she continued to be an active alumnus.
Jackie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, where she was the center of her family. She was known for her gracious hospitality, delicious food and opening her home to everyone.
In addition to raising four children, she was also a former Cub Scout den mother, a former member of the Madison Junior Woman's Club and the Madison Elementary PTA. Jackie was a member of Madison Baptist Church for 73 years.

Jackie is survived by her four sons, Philip (Debby), Ronnie (Mary), Terry (Debbie) and Steve (Grace), all of Madison. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Wilhoit of Danville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9th. at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Jim Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
