Homer Egbert Johnson

Homer E. Johnson, 92, of South Point, OH, formerly of Ranger, WV, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, February 8th. He was the last living child of Harrison and Rosetta Lewis Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice “Cookie” Johnson, his infant son, Sherrill Jon and his grown son, Bradley D. Johnson. He leaves behind his daughters Carolyn Kay Marshall, Proctorville, OH, Edie R. Johnson, Wooster, OH, Shelley J. (John) Belcher, Catlettsburg, KY, and stepdaughters, Kim (Mark) Newcomb, Charlotte, NC and Kristie (Scott) Wells, Virginia Beach, VA.

Homer was blessed to share life with several of his grandchildren: Thomas (Michelle) Evans, Emily R. Johnson, Cody (Tia) Bias, Mariah (Cheyenne) Sergent, and Jacob Sergent. He leaves behind several other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Homer well throughout his life.

He leaves behind his beautiful and faithful feline companion, Bismarck.

The family wishes to express huge and sincere words of appreciation and grateful, heartfelt love to all who cared for him during the last decade of his life and especially the last 6 months of his life: St. Mary's Home Health, A & L Homecare, and Advanced Hospice of Ohio.

Homer Johnson's services will be held at McGhee Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin, WV, on Friday, February 13th. Visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. with Joey Ferguson officiating. Burial to follow will be held at Johnson Cemetery in Ranger, WV.
