Harold Eddie Jarrell

Harold Eddie Jarrell, 85, of the Meadows at Maplewood, Bridgeport, formerly of Madison, WV, passed away at his residence on September 30, 2012.
He was born in Packsville, WV on January 23, 1927. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and coal miner.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Imogene Pettry Jarrell; one sister, Sue Ann Miller and husband Bob of Rock Creek, WV; one son, Harold Eddie Jarrell Jr. and wife Millie of Bowie, MD; one daughter, Sandra Paige Knoblock and husband James of Bridgeport, WV; four grandchildren, Eddie Jarrell of Colorado Springs, CO, Nathan Jarrell of Odenton, MD, Steven Knoblock of Morgantown, WV, and Rebecca Knoblock of Bridgeport, WV. He is also survived by one great-grandson Cayden and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Sue Jarrell; aunt, Janalene Matsos; and an uncle, Carl Jarrell.
After graduating from Marsh Fork High School in the class of 1945, he served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy stationed on Guam in the SEABEES.
He was employed in the coal mining industry for over 40 years rising to the position of General Manager before retiring from A. T. Massey's Omar Mining operation in Boone County. He was a Master Mason in the Beni Kedem Lodge for over 50 years reaching the Thirty-Second degree.
After retiring from the coal industry, he embarked on a hobby of woodworking and spent much time in his basement workshop making cabinets, bookcases, wardrobes, and numerous doll display cases. He enjoyed watching college sports, especially WVU football, and listening to the music of the Gaithers.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
