Gregory Gene Collins, age 69, of Seth, WV, departed from this life on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 to mine coal in Heaven.

Greg was born on August 26, 1956 to the late Woodrow Wilson Collins and Irene Lucille Abbott-Collins. Greg also had a special person in his life that held a piece of his heart, the late Mary Ruth Collins.

At a young age, he went to work underground for Southern Appalachian Coal Company in Ashford, WV. Over the years, he continued to work for Armco-Montcoal, Big Mountain Coal Company in Prenter, WV. He was a proud union miner and remained active in the mining community, retiring from Long Branch in Wharton, WV, following his 36 years of service.

Over the last 30 years, Greg was an active member of the WV Coal Festival. He loved to talk about coal mining. He could be found most weekends at the dance hall, where he loved to dance and charm the ladies. He mastered the art of buying, selling, and trading and he could make a deal with anyone, anywhere.

He is survived by his daughters, Kim and Kevin Britton of Danville, WV, and Becky and Scottie Keeney of Seth, WV; grandchildren, Dustin Harvey and Leah, Summer Harvey, Coltin Harvey, Heather Mullins and Dustin, and Hayley Canterbury; great-grandchildren, Brantley, Alynlee, Carli Ann, and Jaxson; siblings, John (Carol), Donna (Robert), Connie (Leon), Vickey (Richard), and Judy (Tommy); and special friends, Harold Madison, Jim Clendenen, Richard Miller, and Leon Adkins. Greg is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Harrison Stollings officiating. Burial to follow at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas, WV.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
