George William Chambers

George William Chambers passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 62.

He was born on February 17, 1964, and was originally from Danville, West Virginia. After spending a good portion of his adult life in Florida, George eventually made his way back home and settled in Madison, where he remained until his passing.

George worked in the fiber optic and utility industry for most of his life, most recently with Gudenkauf.

George was truly one of a kind—a long-haired, hard-headed, but good-hearted West Virginia boy who lived life his own way and loved the West Virginia mountains he called home.

George is survived by his mother, Marchanna Baldwin (Roger); sisters, Jennifer Harmon (John) and Jessica Huffman (Tony); nieces and nephews, Gannon Chambers (Jessica), Erin Thompson (John), Patrick Harmon, Nicole Davidson (Travis), and Caitlin Naas (Harley); many great-nieces and great-nephews; and his longtime girlfriend, Angela Ferguson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Willard Chambers, and his grandparents, Hattie Mae Chambers and George Willard Chambers, who raised him.

A private family graveside service will be held by Handley Funeral Home on October 10th. The family appreciates all thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
