Frances Arbell Kincaid, 101, born February 2, 1924, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side.
Frances was born to the late David and Lenora (Goodwin) Tawney. She was six out of nine children. She was born and raised in Boone County.
Frances married in October 1946. She and Alvin raised three children. Family was one of the most important things to her, other than her faith. Frances was baptized in December 1951. She was a longtime member of the Danville Church of Christ, where her father, David P. Tawney, was once a pastor. She faithfully attended church until she was in her early nineties, where her health made it impossible for her to get to church.
Frances had several jobs in her lifetime, but the one she talked about most was working at Cox’s Department Store, on Main Street.
Frances lived a long and “blessed” life, or as she would say, “I have had a good life.” When asked in the past month or so, “How old are you?” she would respond, “100 plus some.”
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years, Alvin Kincaid; sons Larry Kincaid and Kenneth Kincaid; three brothers; and five sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Becky Harless; grandchildren Michelle (James) Miller and Doug Harless; great-grandchildren Stephanie (Randy) Miller, Stephen Miller, and Brandon Harless.
