Elma ‘Jean’ Foster, 92, of Peytona, WV went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2024. She is now in the company of her guardian angels: her husband Hal Foster and her son Richard Foster. Jean was also preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary O’Halloran, her brother James O’Halloran, and her sisters Kay Eary and Betty Swartz.
Jean was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Peytona. Jean deeply loved her family and friends. Jean’s impact on the lives of others was profound. She touched many hearts, especially those of the children she taught while a teacher’s aide at Peytona, Racine, and Ashford schools. Her legacy lives on through the positive influence she had on so many.
Jean is survived by her sons, Charles (Brenda) Foster, Greg (Amy) Foster, and Paul Foster; her grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Foster, Candace (John) Fulks, Corey (Ashlie) Foster, Lindsey Meadows, and Tristan Foster. She also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, her brother Frank (Helen) O’Halloran, and step-siblings Kathy, Barbara, Willie, and Charlie.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Barbara Foster, the hospital staff at CAMC Memorial step-down ICU (6th floor front), and the exceptional healthcare angels at the HospiceCare (CAMC/4th floor) that provided excellent care to Jean.
Funeral services will be held at Handley Funeral Home located at 439 Phipps Avenue in Danville, WV, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 11am. Visitation begins at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the HospiceCare (1606 Kanawha Blvd., Charleston, WV 25387) in memory of Jean.
