David Grant Startzel, 55, of Madison passed away on September 9, 2012 at his home.
He was born August 31, 1957 at Harrisburg, PA and was a son of the late Grant and Shirley Startzel.
He graduated at Fleetwood Area High School in 1975, Millersville State College in 1980 and Masters +45 at Marshall University. He worked for Boone County Schools for 32 years. He was a teacher at Van Grade, Danville Grade and Brookview Elementary. He was the Principal at Wharton Elementary for seven years. He was a member of I.O.O.F. and W.V.E.A. and attended Coal Valley Freewill Baptist Church and Madison Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; and step-daughter, Brandi and Anthony Runyon of Madison; aunts, Pat and Rich Glennon of Georgetown, DE, Lorraine Griffiths of Shamokin, PA and Sally Buckley, wife of the late David Buckley of Harrisburg, PA.
Graveside services will be at noon Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Handley Funeral Home, Danville.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wharton Elementary Faculty Senate.
