David Bruce Hutchison

David Bruce Hutchison, born February 21, 1963, of Branchland, WV, passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 63. He was the youngest son of Robert “Bob” and Amma Jean Hutchison, and a member of Mt. Moriah United Baptist Church.

Bruce was a kind and easygoing man who loved his family and was especially blessed by his many grandchildren. Survived by his wife Cheryl (25 years), Children: Daughters Kaygan Hutchison (Kattie), Morgan Spurlock (Eugene), Carmen Combs (Dustin), and son Chay Rowe (Beth). Surviving siblings: one sister, Sue, and two brothers, Ronnie (Kathy) and Johnny (Tola).

He was the proud Papa Brucie of 9 amazing grandkids: Bryson, Cole, Athena, Oaklynn, Gray, Remington, Brystol, Graham, and Renleigh Kaye-B Spurlock, as well as many nephews, nieces, and a host of friends, including Tommy (Tucker) Sanders (Ronda), Rodney Messinger (Diana), and Sandy D. Rowe. The Fall Creekers he grew up with all called him brother

A pipefitter for CSX by trade, Bruce was mechanically gifted and enjoyed working with his hands. Most days, you could find him tinkering on a project in his beloved garage, where he’d welcome you with a warm hello. He also enjoyed relaxing in the outdoors – whether floating on a fishing boat or swinging a set of golf clubs.

Lighthearted and humble, he believed in working hard and happily lending his time and skills whenever his family, friends, or neighbors were in need. Bruce’s life was a quiet, yet resounding, example of goodness – leaving behind a legacy of kindness, respect, and generosity to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Steve Johnson and Dearl Hutchison officiating. The burial will follow in the Slone Triplett Cemetery Pleasant View,WV. A visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral.
