David Wayne Cook

David Wayne Cook, 61, of Danville West Virginia passed away on July 28, 2025 at the Hubbard house after a long courageous battle with cancer. 

David was born on November 2, 1963 and was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald “Max” Cook and Phyllis Ann Cook of Ottawa West Virginia; maternal grandparents Ed and Freda Mullins of Blair, West Virginia & paternal grandparents, Holly and Veda Cook of Ottawa West Virginia; and brother-in-law Larry Guy of Raleigh, North Carolina. 

David worked for West Virginia American water for 30 years where he retired in 2022. He was a jack of all trades and a car enthusiast. He re-dedicated his life to the Lord on July 17, 2025. David enjoyed perfecting his lawn & spending time with his granddaughters. David always put others before himself, even during his illness. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his significant other Angie Vealey; son Christopher David Cook (Megan) of Fairmont, West Virginia; daughter Rachel Leann Moore of Danville, West Virginia; his two granddaughters Raegan Brooke Moore & Remi Max Moore of Danville West Virginia who were the apple of his eye; brothers Gary (Carla) Cook of Chesapeake, Ohio, Ronnie (Marcy) Cook of Ottawa, West Virginia, Danny (Georgann) Cook of Jeffery West Virginia; sisters, Joyce (Brad) Goodwin of Ottawa, West Virginia, Vicky Guy of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jeannie (Timmy) Price of Raleigh, North Carolina; a host of nieces and nephews; and his grand dog Nugget, who stayed by his side. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Saint Judes Children’s Hospital in David’s name.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Billy Lucas and Joe Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
