Obituary

Dannie Elliott Javins, 84, of Peytona, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026. He was born on March 5, 1941, in Foster, WV.

Dannie was the son of the late Nathalie Clendenin Javins and Elliott Javins. He was a proud graduate of Scott High School, Class of 1960, and Concord University, Class of 1964. Football was a lifelong passion for Dannie, and he played with dedication and pride during both his high school and college years—an achievement he treasured deeply. Following college, Dannie honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968. He served primarily during the Vietnam War and also during the conflict involving Cuba, traveling to several countries including Italy, Crete, and Japan. While serving, he continued his love of football by playing for the USMC football team. A proud Marine, Dannie carried his love for his country and his commitment to service throughout his life. In July of 1968, Dannie married the love of his life, Margie Mullins. Their marriage was a true example of enduring love and devotion. Together, they built a family and a life centered on faith, hard work, and love. Dannie dedicated 33 years of service to DuPont, working as a pipe fitter until his retirement in 2001. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he took great pride in providing for his family. A devoted Christian for over 70 years, Dannie faithfully served as an Elder at Seth Church of Christ from 1980 to 2010. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he was a steady source of wisdom, encouragement, and leadership to his church family. In addition to his parents, Dannie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Margie Mullins Javins. He is survived by his sister, Anna (Dale) Asbury; his children, Daniel (Karen) Javins and Shelley Javins; his grandchildren, Ashley (Caleb) Fitzwater, Andrew (Morgan) Javins, and Alan (Shaylee) Javins; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jameson, Myles, Millie, and Avery. He is also survived by a special niece, Donna Briggs, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Dannie Elliott Javins will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, faithful servant of God, proud Marine, and a man whose life was marked by integrity, service, and unwavering love for his family and faith.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Seth Church of Christ, Seth, WV with Mike Tincher officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV is assisting the family.
