Curtis Elkins, 86, of Madison, West Virginia, died July 27, 2026, after a prolonged illness. 

Curt was born January 15, 1940, in Boone County, WV. He was the son of the late Jesse James Elkins and Vinnie Green Elkins. He was married to his high school sweetheart, the late Zora Jeanette Goley Elkins for 62 years. He was a man of many talents - most notably serving his neighbors and church family. He was also a master at trouble shooting anything mechanical or electrical. He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sisters, Lena May Boswell of North Corbin, KY, and Jeanie Elkins King of Bob White, WV; his children, Stanley Mack Elkins (Sharon) of Alum Creek, WV, Richard Curtis Elkins (Paula) of Concord, NC, and Jeffery Don Elkins (Kathy) of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Michelle Holstein Lavender (Chad), Chase Elkins (North), Kate Elkins (Will), Kayla Elkins Dyer, Olivia Elkins, Tyler Elkins (Hannah), Jessica Elkins, and Dr. Jacob Elkins; great-grandchildren, Brady Elkins, Louren Pack, Branton Elkins, Aniston Elkins, Kemmer Dyer, Chance Lavender, Hylands Dyer, Addilynn Elkins, and (soon) Elijah Elkins.

Curt loved Jeanette, kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved the outdoors and teaching all the knowledge he had acquired over time. He was a Godly teacher, dad, granddad, and a very good friend to so many.

Funeral services for Curt will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. Burial to follow in Green Cemetery, Bim, WV. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
