Clyde Vernon Nelson

Clyde Vernon Nelson, 63, of Peytona (Drawdy Creek) went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, September 17, 2012 after a long illness.
He was born February 26, 1949 and was a son of the late Woodrow and Margaret Miller Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Christina Jeffries; brother, Kyle Nelson; father-in-law, Matthew Parsons; brothers-in-law, Orley Allen, Tootsie Pettry and Sonny Baisden.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Parsons Nelson; sons, Chad and wife Kristy of Comfort and Chris and wife Rachel of St. Albans; grandchildren who were the light of his life, Alyssa and Kayla of Comfort and Nicholas and Mattie of St. Albans; sisters, Betty Allen of Dry Creek, Aleda Pettry of Whitesville, Inez Nelson of Rock Creek and Beverly Conklin of Whitesville; brothers, Donald and wife Glenda of Marmet and Steve of Dry Creek; mother-in-law, Margaret Parsons of Peytona; sisters-in-law, Sis Baisden of Peytona, Lori Painter and husband, Jerry of Hernshaw, Pat Parsons of Peytona and Brenda Nelson of Twilight; brothers-in-law, James Parsons and wife Pam of Charleston and Joe and wife Margie of Buckhannon; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 22 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Allen Skeens, Larry Halley and James Parson officiating. Burial will follow in Drawdy Cemetery, Drawdy.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
