Rev. Charles Howard Ferguson, Sr., 96, of Danville, WV, passed away on February 13, 2026 at home. Charles was born on October 1, 1929, on Ferguson Ridge in Missouri Branch, Dunlow, Wayne County, West Virginia.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife and soul-mate of 65 years, Tena Belle Gilkerson Ferguson, son, Rev. Charles Howard Ferguson, Jr., daughter-in-law, Marsha Bell Ferguson, parents, John and Ninnie Jude Ferguson, and eight sisters and brothers.
Charles leaves behind his son, Rev. Gary Randall Ferguson of Danville and daughter-in-law, Deborah Perry Ferguson of Ashland, Kentucky. His grandsons, Matthew Charles Ferguson (Adriane) and David Perry Ferguson. One granddaughter Jessica Danielle Ferguson of Danville. He also leaves seven great-grandchildren.
Charles spent four years in the Navy as a Lab Tech at the Naval Base in Bethesda, Maryland. Following the military, he was a machinist for 37 years and spent most of his career at Guyan Machinery in Chapmanville, WV. He taught Machine Shop for 12 years and retired from Boone County Career and Technical Center. Through the years he worked with his son Gary in his heating and cooling business and they restored classic cars.
Charles’ love for the Lord was seen throughout his life. He was a minister for 67 years. He spent 33 years as the pastor at Clothier Presbyterian Church at Clothier, WV. He spent countless hours studying and learning the Bible. Brought numerous people to Christ and performed countless weddings, funerals, and baptisms throughout the years and people continue to come up to him and thank him for performing their life events.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. with the services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Indian Grave Road, Danville, WV.
He will be deeply missed by family, friends and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He is finally at peace and in heaven with his loving wife, Tena, by his side again.
