Chandler Steven Hayes

Chandler Steven Hayes, 23, passed away October 29th, 2025, at his residence in South Charleston, WV. He was a kind, caring, free spirited soul who would drop everything to help someone in need. He was born on January 12, 2002, in South Charleston, WV and raised in Boone County. He attended Brookview & Nellis Elementary and graduated from Sherman High School in 2021. He held several jobs but was employed at Ginos Pizza in Marmet where he held the position of shift leader. He was of the Protestant Faith.

Chandler was preceded in death by his mother, Angela Barker-Hayes; grandfather, Basil Barker; maternal great grandparents, Arthur & Marjorie Johnson, and Lorraine Marcum & Charles Lohrenz whom he claimed as grandparents and lived with for a short time.

Left to cherish his memory is his father, Eric Hayes, of Ridgeview; brothers Ethan Hayes of Madison and Morgan Hayes of Nellis; maternal grandmother, Carol Barker of Nellis; grandparents, Steve & Brenda Hayes of Ridgeview; uncles, Kevin (Essica) Barker of Danville, Chris (Natalie) Adkins of Marmet, and Robert (Kristina) Adkins of Nellis; and one aunt, Tressie Coleman of Ridgeview.

He shared a special bond with Kristina Adkins as well as his cousins Timothy Carpenter, Jeffery Adkins, and Robert ‘RJ’ Adkins to whom he called his other brothers. Also left to cherish his memory are extended family, a host of cousins, friends, and community members. He will forever be loved and missed.

Services will be held at Handley Funeral Home (Danville) on Friday, November 7th, 2025. Public visitation will be from 1 – 2 PM with Stevie Cox officiating the service at 2 PM. Final resting place will be Barker Cemetery in Ashford, WV.
