Carolyn Sue (Skeens) Adkins, 77, of Springfield, OH, formally of Branchland, WV, passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, July 6, 2025, after a long illness.
Carolyn was born on January 22, 1948, to the daughter of Edward and Verlena Skeens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert H. Adkins; her brother Jimmy R. Skeens; her sisters-in-law Loretta J. Willis and Mary R. Burns; and her brothers-in-law Carl L. Adkins and Lewis G. Burns. She was the loving and devoted mother to Tina Lynn (Thomas) Cox, from Springfield, OH. She adored her grandson, Nathan Robert Cox. He could put a smile on her face like no other. She leaves behind three step grandchildren Paige (Brian) Heming, Bryce, and Taylor Cox, which she loved and enjoyed spending time with. Great grandmother to Landon Michael Heming. She leaves behind two of the dearest sisters Vanessa G. (Kenneth) Price of Ranger, WV, and Deborah L. (Larry) Pritchard of Branchland WV. Two brothers Michael D. Skeens (Trish) of Midkiff, WV, and Douglas Skeens of Harts, WV; Sisters-in-law Connie S. Skeens, and Judith A. Adkins both of Midkiff, WV, brother-in-law Arthur Willis of Logan, WV.; Two special aunts Lou Dean Adkins of St. Albans, WV, and Anna Jean Cook, of South Point, OH. She leaved behind nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and a friend to many.
Anyone who met Carolyn knew she was a kind, loving soul and would help anyone in need. She enjoyed quilting, riding ATVs with her family, walking on the beach and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, July 20, 2025 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Jason McComas officiating. The burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV. A visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Condolences can be left at www.handleyfh.com
