Carol Sue Dodrill, 64, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. After courageously fighting an illness with remarkable strength, grace, and determination, Carol left this world leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will never be forgotten.
Carol was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and sissy. She spent 35 years dedicated to her career with United Healthcare, in which her coworkers became life long friends. Above all else, Carol’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother who always put the needs of others before her own. Her love was unconditional, her heart was generous, and her support never wavered. To know Carol was to know kindness, warmth, and a person who would do anything for the people she loved. Carol found happiness in celebrating Christmas, taking cruises, spending time at the beach, and making cherished memories with family and friends. She also adored her beloved dog, Bella, whose companionship brought her endless comfort and joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Royce & Hazel Dodrill; brother Jimmy Dodrill; nieces Sherry Overcash, Tara Arthur; brother-in-law Paul Hanson.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Taylor (Jessica) Dodrill; sisters Angela (Richard) Walker and Vickie Hanson; sister-in-law Margaret “Cookie” Dodrill; grandchildren Luna Nicole and Ernest; nieces & nephews Missy (Robert), Mandy, Michael (Amy), Caleb, Jeremy, Nicolas; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She was the best mom in the world, and her family was the center of her universe. Though she is no longer with us, her love remains forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with Jeff Howerton officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
