Bonnie Lou Sharp

Bonnie Lou Sharp, 84, passed away on July 18, 2026 in Powder Springs, Georgia.

Born in Nellis, West Virginia, Bonnie was one of 7 siblings and, as the song goes, a “Coal Miner’s Daughter”.

Bonnie was an insatiable collector: red trucks, marbles, outhouses, 50s memorabilia, dolls, and the list goes on. A lover of curios and color, her home was full to the brim of things she’d bought, things she’d made, and things she’d been gifted, with the sound of her cuckoo clock, police scanners, and bird calls completing the scene. She was always ready to hop in the car to peruse the local flea market, Walmart, thrift store, or wherever else she might find some new treasure.

She believed her calling in life was to care for others, be it neighborhood kids in need of a backyard to play in while their parents worked, or her older sister, Shirley, who lived with her for over 40 years. Shirley had been disabled by scarlet fever as a child and always told Bonnie that she wanted to live with her when their parents died. Bonnie cared for her bedridden sister with a cheerful heart and constant love.

Bonnie was married to her husband of 53 years, Daniel Sharp, until his passing in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Addison and Sadie Holstein, her siblings: Dennis, Dovie, Jessie, Iris, Roger, and Shirley, and her “bestest cousin” Jean Kay. She is survived by her two children, Barry (Cheryl) and Steven (Traci), and her four grandchildren, Lauren (Briggs), Caroline (Cody), Lily (James), and Brittany (Cecil).

Bonnie will be remembered as an outgoing, lifetime lover of West Virginia, sweets, and adventure big and small. Flowers may be sent to Handley Funeral Home in Danville, West Virginia.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m.  Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Bonne Memorial Park, Madison, WV.
