Billy Wayne Buckner, 74, of Danville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Billy was born September 13, 1951 to John Jr and Lurlen (Dempsey) Buckner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Electa (Worley) Buckner & Andrew and Mary (Brown) Dempsey; sister Thelma Gail Gomez; brothers-in-law Gene Gomez, Orville (Dickie) Jarrell, Tommy Caines, and Roger Miller; and nephew Joshua Buckner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters Beva Caines of Salem, Indiana, OraMae Miller of Danville, WV, Lorean Jarrell of Danville, WV, Lola & Gary Ellison of Danville, WV, Alice Asbury & John Hess of Danville, WV; brothers Johnny & Kay Buckner of Foster, WV, Lonnie Buckner of Weirton, WV, Eugene Buckner of Danville, WV, Jimmy & Jonna Buckner of Foster, WV, Joey & Tanya Buckner of Danville, WV, with whom he lived since our mommy went to Heaven; special life-long friends Stanley & Sarah Adkins. Billy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Billy loved everyone, and everyone loved him.

An extra Special thank you goes to Joey, Tanya, Clarissa and Joseph for the exceptional love and care they gave Billy. They made sure his days were filled with joy by taking him to so many of his favorite places and experiences -- the live nativity scene, multiple trips to see Christmas lights at Chief Logan Park, and Spirit Halloween. They treated him often to Mexican food, which was his favorite food, along with pizza. He spent countless moments with Joey selling peaches beside the road. They visited Cabela’s every year for a picture with Santa. He loved remote controlled cars and exploring anything and everything Beetlejuice related. Their kindness and love gave Billy memories he truly treasured, Joey will tell you -- Billy was his baby.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with Ralph Caudill and Stanley Adkins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
