Betty Adkins

Betty L. Elkins Bellomy Adkins, age 86, of Huntington WV, passed away on December 7, 2025. Betty was born on May 29, 1939, in Raleigh County, WV to the late Rev. Stephen Benton Elkins and Rev. Cora Rae McCoy Elkins. Betty grieved the loss of two loving husbands, William Bellomy and Howard C. "Bill" Adkins. Betty is also preceded in death by six sisters: Gracie Acord, Theresa Tackett, Goldie Ulbrich, Greta Watts, Lois Baker, and Bonnie Jeffery. Two brothers: Grady B. Elkins, and Jackie Elkins and two grandsons: BJ Johnson and JR Adkins. A very special aunt, Victoria Maynard.

Betty is a retired teacher with Lincoln County School Systems. She was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Betty was a member of Camp Branch United Baptist Church and has been a faithful servant of the Lord since her childhood. 

Those here to cherish Betty's precious memories is her daughter LaDonna (Patrick) Flower of Huntington, WV, stepdaughter Sandy (Donald) Johnson of Branchland, WV and stepson Gary (Sherry) Adkins of Ona, WV. Three sisters: Willa D. (Gene) Nicely of Chesapeake, OH, Audrey C. (Charles) Stevens of Cincinnati, OH, and Wanda Kay Cook of Berea, OH, along with a sister-in-law Rena Elkins. Three grandchildren: Ryan (Audra) Flower of Huntington, WV, Stephanie Johnson of Branchland, WV, and Kelly (Josh) Miller of Ooltewah, TN; four great-grandchildren: Keely Miller, Kylee Miller, JR Miller, and Mason Johnson. A host loving nieces and nephews, alongside a host of dear friends, Lisa Flower, Bobbie Simpkins, Odell and Sharon Bellomy, and many more. 

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on December 12, 2025, at Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin, WV. Visitation will be two hours prior at 10 a.m. till time of service. Lennie Romans and Donald Childers will be officiation the service. A burial is to follow to Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
