Bennie Ray "Huff" Triplett, 87, of Branchland, West Virginia, passed away on July 1, 2024 at his home. Born on February 15, 1937, in Branchland, he was a lifelong resident of the area.
Bennie was a respected master welder, whose extensive knowledge benefited many in the younger generation. His life work began in his teen years at Donahue Brothers Pipeline, he spent 25+ years with Lyle Black Construction, and he enjoyed a fulfilling second retirement working at Columbia Gas Transmission.
Huff was passionate about hunting, gardening, and moving dirt around, activities that kept him connected to the land and the outdoors.
Bennie is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Judy; daughters Tammy Stanford, Kecia “Key” Nelson, and Amber Harris (husband Blaine (the son he always wanted), stepchildren Cassondra Wendall (husband Chad), and Jamie West; grandchildren Andrea Nelson, Lance Dial, Cameron Nelson, Donavan Stanford, Logan Harris, Jarred Stanford, Landen Harris. Step-grand children, Dalton (Lily) West and Colton West. Great grandchildren Gloria Starr Bennett and Kecia Danielle Nelson, and Kreed West and his surviving siblings Ronnie Triplett, Belva “Mae” Smith, and Lillian Burton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Triplett and Idona (Harless) Triplett- Baker; stepfather Thurman Baker; and siblings David, Vida Hollon, Luther, William, Abraham “Link”, and Helen Parsons.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his work, love for the outdoors, and the deep bonds he forged with his family, friends, and community. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday July 7, 2024 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Greg Dial officiating. The burial will follow in the Triplett Cemetery, Branchland, WV. A visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Condolences can be left at www.handleyfh.com.
