Babe Allen Halstead, 77, of Foster, West Virginia, departed this life on April 6th, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family.
Babe was born on November 28th, 1948, in Foster, West Virginia, to the late Malcomb and Lennie Halstead. He was a proud graduate of Scott High School, Class of 1966. A devoted member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years, Babe lived a life rooted in faith, service, and dedication. He honorably served his country in the United States Army as a tank commander during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. Following his military service, he worked in the coal mines for more than 30 plus years before retiring. He was also a faithful member of VFW Post 5578.
In addition to his parents, Babe was preceded in death by his brothers, Malcomb Jr. Halstead, Marion Lee Halstead, and Arnett “Dick” Halstead; his sister, Judy Crouch; and his beloved granddaughter, Kaylee Justice.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra (Keffer) Halstead; his three daughters, Dena Jo Wall, Amy Cooper (Kevin), and Tiffany Justice (Mohamad Nabulsi); and his nine grandchildren, Morgan Christian (Willen), Jordan Richmond (Jennifer), Maranda Castle (Garrett), Dyllan Richmond, Gabby Justice, Zoie Hess, Jacoby Justice, Conner Justice, and Gunner Wall. He also leaves behind ten cherished great-grandchildren. Babe is further survived by his sisters, Gloria McClure, Deloris Hughes, Nancy Bargo, Connie Halstead, and Karen Miller; and his brother, Rex Douglas Halstead.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with Nate Dolin and Wendell Hill officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow in Foster, WV.
Babe was a devoted family man who loved deeply and gave generously. He was a hardworking individual who found joy in the outdoors, especially gardening, and took great pride in everything he did. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
