Arnold Leon Lambert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on March 28, 1938, in the small town of Van, West Virginia, Arnold's life was a rich tapestry of service, love, and devotion that touched many hearts and spanned generations.
The son of the late Herbert and Thirley Lambert, Arnold was the embodiment of warmth and kindness, qualities that were evident from a young age. He was predeceased by his siblings Anna Lee Bias, Garland, Richard, Phillip, and Michael Lambert, and by his cherished great-grandsons Trenton “Turtle” Carr and Carter “Tatertot” Scott. Despite these losses, Arnold's spirit remained resilient, and he continued to be a pillar of strength for his family and friends.
Arnold proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1969, achieving the rank of E-5 and receiving the Navy Second and Third Good Conduct Awards for his exemplary service. His time in the Navy shaped him into a man of great discipline and integrity, values he carried with him throughout his life.
After his military service, Arnold embarked on a career in the coal mines as an electrician and mechanic, a testament to his hard work and dedication. For over 20 years, he was known as a jack of all trades, respected by his peers for his skill and unwavering work ethic.
In 1979, Arnold married the love of his life, Linda Vickers, in Bim, West Virginia. Together, they celebrated 46 wonderful years of marriage, raising five children: Tim (Robin) Lambert of Florida, Ron (Missy) Carpenter of North Carolina, Tammy (Donald) Jacobs of South Carolina, Terry Lambert of West Virginia, and Lora Francis of Pennsylvania. Also to cherish his memories are: A special nephew and niece Darrell and Roberta Bias of West Virginia; brother Gary Lambert of North Carolina; and sisters Francis Lambert of Virginia, Pat (Kenny) Melton of Indiana, and Roberta (Herb) Hatchett of West Virginia. Arnold's devotion to his family was evident in the joy and laughter that filled their home, a testament to the love and care he invested in those he held dear.
Arnold was a devoted member of the Quinland Freewill Baptist Church, having given his life to the Lord on May 15, 2011. His faith was a guiding light in his life, inspiring those around him with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering belief in God.
Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Arnold had an extraordinary ability to bring joy to any situation, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. His legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who were endlessly entertained and cherished by their beloved grandfather.
Arnold's life will be celebrated on May 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Quinland Freewill Baptist Church, located at 6314 Pond Fork Rd., Madison, WV 25130 with John Workman officiating. Family, friends, and all who knew him are invited to join in honoring this remarkable man's life, love, and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Quinland Freewill Baptist Church in Arnold's memory, ensuring that his spirit of generosity and faith continues to touch lives.
